Currently a double degree student (BA Christian Studies Minor Art & BFA Art Education EC-12). Recently found a new love for painting which has taken me away from photography, which I generally use now as just support for paintings. Currently prepping for senior studio and a new series.
Recently graduated with a BA Christian Studies & BFA Art Education EC-12, and started teaching at a Christian private school in January 2014. I still pursue painting as my primary art form, and continue using my photography to support the paintings content. I am currently playing with a series idea birthed out of a rabbit hole moment during my senior show prep.

As a teacher now, I find the balance of instruction to my own personal creating really difficult to manage. It really ends up coming down to making sure I can connect concepts to students, so I use my personal time to continue to teach or research for them rather than create. I've noticed the lacking for me, just as a soul, and an artist so my goal is to get canvases and begin working on a series concept I've had in my head for a while looking into the overlapping during corporate worship. So this play with hands, and lifting of them to God. I love the idea of this mystical, cosmic-ish background, and the use of repetition for eeriness.

New Series Struggles

I'm currently working on a new senior series for my gallery exhibition which is still focusing on figure study but I'm extra stuck and really frustrated. I'm am torn in so many different directions trying to think of something solid but it's just mud. Struggling with how to say what I want with visual voice when I have all this stuff jumbling around. The figure doesn't look how I want it at all, and now I really need to just restart and I can't with a deadline on the 28th. #torturedartist #deeppain
